Have you heard of a “hazard map” which shows us dangerous places in times of natural disasters? it shows where flooding tends to occur and where landslides can block roads in case of a lot of rain. It also shows where the ground will shake more than other places in case of big earthquakes. It also helps you and your family members know where to find a public shelter near your home in advance. You can get a free copy of this official map at local city offices.
Here is a fun and educational disaster prevention program for school children’s summer projects offered by the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution (Hito to Bousai Mirai Center).
