Information from Sendai City to the citizens of Sendai
It has already been 4 days since the Higashi Nippon Earthquake and we would like to ask all citizens to take proper care of your health and get some rest. Please stand by as we bring you an announcement regarding life line and traffic related information.
Regarding the status of electricity and water supplies, currently there are locations where these utilities have been fully restored, however, please note that there are still some locations where these utilities are unavailable. Gas utilities are still unavailable.
Please also note that there are still some locations experiencing telephone network problems.
In regards to traffic and transportation conditions in Sendai, the City Buses will restart operations from March 14th, for major bus routes, at irregular intervals, while the JR, Shinkansen, and regular train lines are still not in operation as of this time.
Regarding the status of subway and train services, train services have restarted operation on March 14th between Tomizawa and Dainohara with trains leaving at 8 minute intervals. Please also note that free bus services are available between Dainohara and Izumichuo with buses leaving at 30 minute intervals.
